Graduates will have a critical role in developing viable, inclusive and equitable solutions to the economic, social and environmental challenges the world is facing. Higher education must therefore equip them with the skills and agency required to have a positive impact on social, economic and environmental sustainability.

There is a growing demand for professionals with knowledge of sustainable development principles. By fostering the relevant skills and attributes in students, we empower them to navigate diverse career paths. Whether they opt for sustainability-focused roles or apply sustainable development principles and strategies to their chosen field, their expertise will be valuable in driving a more sustainable and equitable future.

Ways we can help you

  • Develop your approach: Map, evaluate and enhance the extent to which staff and students can engage with ESD, and develop and embed meaningful quality assurance measures.
  • Train staff: Encourage staff development, recognise and celebrate good practice and reward sustainability initiatives from across the institution.
  • Connect ESD to students: Consider how sustainability competencies can connect with and reinforce other strategic priorities such as employability, enterprise, entrepreneurship, inclusive curricula and internationalisation.
