Accreditation policy, submission templates and guidance 2026

The Advance HE accreditation policy 2026 and Guide to addressing the criteria for accreditation 2026 set out the requirements for accreditation, the policy is updated annually.

For institutions applying for (re)accreditation, the 2026 submission template must be used for January, March, September and October 2026 accreditation submissions.

Advance HE member institutions are encouraged to use and adapt Advance HE fellowship resources and guidance to suit their institutional context.

Supporting you with your accredited provision

As part of your Advance HE accreditation package, you have access to a range of provisions to help institutions both enhance their practice and achieve professional recognition for their staff. This includes:

  • Access to the Accredited Programme Leaders Network (APLN) on Advance HE Connect – providing opportunity to connect to over 600 members globally
  • APLN Network meetings
  • Regular calibration events
  • Submission developmental review
  • Annual data report for your own institution
  • 12-month review for those new to accreditation
  • Accreditation guidance events

Making changes to your accredited provision

To enable your institution to make a change to your accredited programmes you can take advantage of our major/minor change process. Any change proposed by your institution, whether ‘major’ or ‘minor’ should be considered and approved by us in advance of the change being implemented.

You will be asked to supply information which will be considered by our Change Panel. Our Change Panel will feed back on the outcome and, where changes are approved, will make clear the date from which the change will apply.

It is difficult to define the nature of a ‘minor’ change as opposed to a ‘major’ change because each institution is different and each programme/scheme is distinctive to suit the context of the institution.
