Advance HE has reached a significant milestone in Australasia, with the fellowship community in Australia and New Zealand now exceeding 10,000 Fellows across all categories of recognition.
The achievement highlights the region’s ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and student success, while recognising the expertise and leadership of those who enhance the higher education experience.
Fellows in Australasia comprise:
- 280 Associate Fellows (Indigenous)
- 2,897 Associate Fellows
- 4,307 Fellows
- 2,525 Senior Fellows
- 202 Principal Fellows
Geographically, the fellowship community includes 9,332 Fellows in Australia, 709 in New Zealand and one Fellow in Fiji.
Advance HE fellowship recognises individuals who demonstrate a commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in higher education. The milestone reflects the growing adoption of the Professional Standards Framework (PSF) in the region and the value that institutions place on recognising teaching excellence and educational leadership.

The milestone underscores the strength and influence of the fellowship community across Australasia, bringing together educators, leaders and practitioners who are driving innovation, championing effective teaching practices and supporting student success.
As the fellowship community continues to grow, Advance HE is also strengthening opportunities for collaboration and peer support among its most senior educational leaders. Plans are underway to establish an Australasian Principal Fellow Network, building on the learnings from Advance HE’s UK Principal Fellow Network and responding to the needs of Principal Fellows across the region.
The network will provide a dedicated space for Principal Fellows to connect, share expertise and explore strategic challenges facing higher education. Over time, it is expected to contribute to a wider and richer global peer community, supporting ongoing strategic leadership and the advancement of high-quality teaching and learning across the sector.
