Produced by the University of Manchester, Lancaster University Management School and the University of Leeds as part of the Advance HE Collaborative Development Fund in 2023-24, these guides are written for design-curious academics and professional service colleagues in higher education.

Design Thinking (DT) is a creative and collaborative approach to making things better. It leads to robust outcomes focused on the people who are affected. DT has huge potential to transform how we work in HE: putting empathy at the heart of our work, prompting us to do fulfilling work, supporting us to tackle important problems in ways which are useful to people.

This guide walks you through a DT approach to solving problems, framed in the language that most resonated with DT4HE participants.
