Introducing the TEDM principle: improving written feedback. Discussion Paper. Advance HE, York

This presentation is aimed mainly at supporting tutors. It covers the key challenges in providing useful feedback from tutor to student and focuses on written feedback, a very common feedback mechanism. The paper argues for the adoption of a protocol – T(ell) E(xplain) D(escribe) M(odel) – to enable tutors to provide useful feedback based on the findings of a funded staff-student project which explored the kind of feedback students would find valuable.
