Adjunct Professor Angela Hill (BA, Grad Dip Ed, MEd Studies, PhD, PFHEA) completed undergraduate studies in Aboriginal Studies and Linguistics at the Australian National University (ANU). In 2004, she completed her PhD, examining the retreat from social justice agendas in post-compulsory schooling. Between 1996 and 2017, Angela worked at James Cook University in North Queensland and held senior roles including serving as the Dean of Learning, Teaching, and Student Engagement. In 2017, she transitioned to Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, where she served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) until 2022.
Throughout her career, Angela has focused on supporting communities that are underserved and excluded from higher education, advocating for institutional and curriculum reform. Angela is currently contributing to the Australian Academic Volunteers Abroad (AAVA) – a network that supports the aspirations of universities across the Indo – Pacific. Angela is currently in the Solomon Islands, a nation on the front line of climate change, regional security tensions, and the enduring legacies of World War II. As a volunteer with the Solomon Islands National University, and in the context of increasing global momentum away from coloniality, she supports their aspirations for academic programmes that meet regional and international standards.
