As part of this role, she helped to commission, shape and disseminate the research Gender Equality in Higher Education – Maximising Impacts, which explores global gender equality challenges within higher education, how institutions around the world are developing effective new interventions to support gender equality and the importance of mutual learning, exchange and partnership to addressing challenges of gender inequality both in the UK and around the world. She holds a BA Hons. French and Hispanic Studies from the University of Sheffield and a MA Education and International Development from the Institute of Education, University of London. She has studied in France and Spain, worked in Chile and Peru and travelled to many parts of Latin America, Europe and Asia. She is passionate about gender equality and the power of international collaboration to drive change.
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, on the ground in more than 100 countries. We believe that achieving gender equality is crucial to creating inclusive, prosperous and sustainable societies. The work we do to address this is core to our role of building knowledge and understanding between the UK and other countries. We work with local partners to facilitate dialogue to influence policy and practice and promote access and opportunities to help women and girls achieve their potential and have more influence over decisions that affect their lives. We support collaboration between women and women’s organisations and build alliances with stakeholders including higher education and research institutions, civil society organisations, governments and the private sector, drawing on UK and global expertise for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and to take collaborative action.
