Brendan has a deep understanding of domestic and European employment policy, of workplace relations and the application of employment law. He is passionate about the future of work, the importance of workforce development and the role of progressive workplace relations and social dialogue in a modern economy. Over his career, he has had an involvement in most national workplace relations reform initiatives in Ireland.
Previously, Brendan was National Director of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Services at Ireland’s national business representative organisation, Ibec.
He is currently Chairperson of the National College of Ireland and is a serving member of the Board of the Workplace Relations Commission. He also served as Chairperson of Skillnet Ireland, which is the Irish Government agency mandated to lead on workforce development.
What differentiates Brendan is the combination of his career-long employment relations and HR leadership expertise with his extensive governance and chairmanship experience
Throughout his career, he has also worked on public affairs assignments concerning employment and social affairs issues with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), BusinessEurope and currently with the World Employment Confederation. He also served as a member of the Governing Board of the European Foundation for Living and Working Conditions.
