Jan Juillerat

Jan Juillerat, MBA, is an experienced Associate with Advance HE, leading governance effectiveness reviews for a wide range of UK institutions and contributing to governor development programmes, workshops and guidance. Jan has worked in education and research in the UK for over 25 years, with leadership and Executive roles in Further and Higher Education and the UK Research Councils/UKRI.

About

Jan’s professional background and experience spans HR, organisational development and corporate governance. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, a qualified OD Practitioner, Executive Coach and Mediator, and a Fellow of the RSA. Jan has held non-executive roles for over 10 years, including charity and education sector roles. She has held independent university board member roles since 2016. A former Vice-Chair of Council at Cardiff University, she is currently a member of the governing body of Arts University Bournemouth, and Deputy Chair of The Careers Research and Advisory Centre, CRAC (Ltd), the Vitae charity.

Jan works across education and research as a consultant, coach, reviewer, advisor and working partner, supporting effective practice, positive culture and behaviours, organisational capability and organisational performance. Grounded, resourceful and solutions-focussed, with an open and inquiring approach, Jan is a strong advocate of inclusivity, creativity, dialogue and collaboration.

Jan has led and supported numerous Governance Effectiveness Reviews with a range of UK institutions. These have included parallel reviews of Corporate and Academic governance (Council/Board and Senate). Institutions include Teesside University, University of Leeds, University of Aberdeen, QMUL, Keele University, Edinburgh College and the University of Hull.
