Martha Longdon

Martha brings a decade of experience in student experience, higher education policy and strategy. She is currently based at the University of York as the Strategic Programme Manager (Skills Development) for the RSS Specialist Centre for Social Care. Prior to this, she worked at the University of Nottingham as Faculty Education & Student Experience Manager for Social Sciences. In 2017 she was elected President & Chair of Nottingham Trent Students’ Union, and served as a governor on NTU’s Board. In 2018, she was appointed Deputy Chair of the TEF Subject Pilot Panel for Natural Sciences, before being appointed to the board of the Office for Students from 2018 to 2023, where she chaired the OfS student panel and provided advice to DfE during the Covid-19 pandemic through the HE Mental Health & Wellbeing Taskforce. She is currently as studying a part-time PhD in Higher Education at Lancaster University. Martha also brings governance and non-exec experience from other sectors as the vice-chair for Leicester Counselling Centre, and previously as vice-chair for Djanogly Northgate Academy, Parish Councillor for East Leake, and as a member and board development officer of an Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) in the prison and probation service.
