Professor Osama Khan is Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic at Aston University, Birmingham, with over 27 years in higher education. He leads Aston’s academic strategy, driving inclusive, research-informed, and digitally enhanced education aligned with the University 2030 vision.
A pioneer in educational transformation, Osama has led major initiatives in digital learning, innovative pedagogy, and data-driven decision-making to improve student outcomes. He played a key role in designing the Teaching Excellence Framework and chairs Advance HE’s EDI Advisory Group. Educated in Bangladesh, Surrey, and Cambridge, he began his UK academic career at Cambridge in 2002 after a successful investment banking career.
He has taught Corporate Finance at leading institutions including Cambridge, HEC Paris, and Copenhagen Business School. Passionate about equality and inclusion, he contributes to national efforts on student wellbeing and BAME leadership. Osama lives in Surrey with his wife and two children, and enjoys walking, culinary tourism, and interactive teaching.
