Professor Penny Macbeth

‘Institutional Transformation: key principles for success: the case of GSA.’ Penny is the Director of the Glasgow School of Art. She was previously Dean of Manchester School of Art and Deputy Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Arts and Humanities and the driving force behind its ground-breaking School of Digital Arts.

About

She joined GSA in May 2020 and has had to oversee the restoration of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh-designed building, which was badly damaged by two fires (2014 and 2018) as well as leading the response to a critical ELIR report. Penny aims to strengthen the School’s existing international reputation in the visual creative arts.
