As of September 2025, Jacqui’s role now spans both the Department for Education and the Department for Work and Pensions, in order to align skills policy more closely with labour market and employment reform, placing FE and training providers at the heart of the government’s growth mission. Jacqui was previously an MP from 1997 to 2010, serving as the first female Home Secretary and in several other ministerial positions. She worked as a teacher before her entry into Parliament.
