About
The University of Northampton CPD Scheme, C@N-DO, accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) for the award of Associate Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow, and the linked progression to a PGCert in Academic Practice represents a model uniquely-tailored to local challenges of institutional curriculum reform. I have built an institution-wide virtual team comprising central support staff and faculty-based academics collaborating to offer needs-based provision in which the focus is on practical activities grounded in staff experience, professional values and the challenges inherent in the institutional move to Active Blended Learning. Within this I use the UKPSF to provide structure for a flexible and evolving programme, and to scaffold development for all stages of the academic career.
I am committed to the integration of the CPD Scheme within institutional processes and procedures and to embedding the CPD Scheme as institutionally-owned provision as well as addressing strategies and related Faculty targets towards institutional KPIs regarding professional recognition.
The insight gained from leading the Northampton scheme, together with 5 years experience as an HEA Accreditor enrich the guidance I provide to other institutions as an HEA UKPSF Consultant, contributing to the assurance of robust recognition decisions and the design of institutionally-appropriate provision meeting UKPSF Accreditation requirements.
With a demonstrated history of working in the higher education both in the UK and internationally, I have led on transparency in learning-outcomes-based assessment, developmental approaches to Peer Observation, and the pioneering of Online Peer Observation, the focus of my ongoing PhD Research.
