Zaid Mahmood was the SU President at the University of Kent from 2022 to 2024. He was a student trustee before becoming the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Kent Students’ Union as well as acting as the main student representative on the University Council and Senate. He has been involved at all levels of university governance, ranging from Council, Senate and relevant committees to strategy programme board and localised task forces for key projects. Zaid understands the importance of student voice within university governance structures and believes that students should be involved in all decisions that affect them to ensure co-creation of the student experience within HE institutions. Zaid currently works with students’ unions across the country to support their commercial functions and development to meet the needs of the HE sector
